Cubs Made the Playoffs!!!!!!!

Cubs Suck

Cubs fans are probably going crazy like the “Girls Gone Wild” videos because their team finally made the playoffs.  I remember, i think my sophmore freshman year of college, when the Cubs made the playoffs.  It was really crazy at ISU.  People were rioting in the streets and burning couches and what have you the whole night.  It was pretty ridiculous if you ask me.  Cardinal fans are so used to making the playoffs and having a successful year that its not that big of a deal.

If the Cubs somehow ever win the World Series I would not be surprised if they burnt down Wrigley Field and most of the city.  Anyway congrats to the Cubs.  Heck they ended the season like one game better(which is not good) than what the Cardinals did last year.  I highly doubt they have the same success in the playoffs though.

SportsForumz.com has gone Live!

Posted in Sports, Technology at 3:04 pm by Administrator

Some of you already know by now but for those who don’t, I have started a Sports Forum website:  www.SportsForumz.com

This site is exactly what you think.  It’s a forum site that has categories for all major U.S. sports(NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, PGA, UFC, NCAA, etc…).  If you think some need to be added please let me know.  I am actually doing the Google Adwords for this one, to drive traffic to my site.  Should be nice to see how that works and at what price.

I think the hardest thing for a forum site is to get it started.  I need to have people who will post and post often.  If someone visits from one of my ads then they most likely wont join because I don’t have that many users yet, so this is somewhat of a problem.  The success of a forum site lies within the users and how active the forum is.

I am currently working on getting a Logo done for this site.  Hopefully it will freshen up the page some and stick out.  Please check out the forum and tell me what you think.  Also if you know someone who might be interested in joining please tell them about it.

March Madness

Posted in Sports at 3:02 pm by Administrator

March is full of me watching basketball, from high school to College.  This past weekend I went to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship Game between SIU and Creighton.  Pretty good game but SIU’s offense could not keep up with Creighton.  Faulker was also sick and it showed in the game as he was calling to come out and he also air balled a free throw.

This next weekend the 15th through the 18th  I will be heading to Peoria to watch the Class AA High School Boy’s Basketball Tournament.  Always a good time in Peoria…. cough, cough(Big Als, Par-a-Dice Casino), cough, cough.

I am a little disappointed in that a few teams that i wanted to make it have already lost.  I was hoping a team from around my area would make it, but they pretty much all lost.  I was also hoping I would get to see Michael Jordans 2 boys play.  They play for Loyola Academy but they already got beat.

Oh well, I put in for a Media Pass to the State Tournament so hopefully i will be getting that and will have some pretty good seats, so that www.JerseyvilleSports.com can cover the game.

PBGL.com

Posted in Sports, Technology at 10:17 pm by Administrator

Today I was reading a sports magazine and came across an article talking about the website www.pbgl.com

It is described on the website as “the place where major league baseball players show another side of their skills as they battle it out via online video gameplay”.  It seemed pretty interesting, but I looked at the list and no Cardinals are in the league, but there a few big name players like Johnny Damon, Julian Tavarez (Boston Red Sox), Luke Hochevar (Kansas City Royals), Dallas McPherson (Los Angeles Angels), Willy Taveras (Colorado Rockies), Corey Patterson (Baltimore Orioles) Rodrigo Lopez (Baltimore Orioles), Seth McClung (Tampa Bay Devil Rays) Josh Barfield (Cleveland Indians), Craig Hansen (Boston Red Sox), Matt Holliday (Colorado Rockies), Derek Lowe (Los Angeles Dodgers), Prince Fielder (Milwaukee Brewers), and Mike Pelfrey (New York Mets).

I think to start off they are only playing one game and it’s some racing game from microsoft.  I think they plan on adding more games in the future.  I think it would make more sense if they played a baseball game since they are all pro baseball players.

World Series Champions

Posted in Pics, Sports at 12:23 pm by Administrator

As you all probably know the Cardinals won the World Series.  It was amazing.  The one thing I am mad about is the rain delay.  I had tickets to Game 5 of the World Series.  My ticket says Game 5, but because of the rainout Game 4 got moved to actually be after Game 5 (kinda screwy, right?).  So i had a chance to see the game clinching game, but because of this stupid move i didn’t get to be there.  I don’t know why they couldn’t just move the games back like they did for the postseason games vs. the Mets.  I should have been at the game clincher, damnit!

Anyway the Cardinals won and I am happy with that fact, but it will bug me the rest of my life that i was supposed to be at game 5.  I think everyone is St. Louis is still in shock of the whole thing.  No one expected it this year, hell some people were concerned we wouldnt even make the playoffs.  The year was full of injuries, but the Cardinals ended up turning it on when it mattered.

World Series

Posted in Sports at 11:45 am by Administrator

Who would have thought that the 2006 Cardinals would be in the World Series?  We all thought that this years team was a sub par team with all the injuries and what not.  They barely even made the playoffs.  They had 3 or 4 8 game losing streaks during the season.  They have just been putting it on for the playoffs.  With a team with nothing to lose and the underdogs in every series.  We have had guys step up who you would not have thought would.  Pujols isn’t have the greatest postseason and were still in the Playoffs.  I went to one game vs the Padres.  They lost that game.  I went to two games vs. the Mets.  They won one and lost one.  I got one ticket to Game 5 of the World Series and they better win that one.  How great would it be if they won the World Series the first year in the new stadium.  That would be great.

2006 NL Central Champions

Posted in Sports at 2:36 pm by Administrator

The Cardinals are the 2006 NL Central Champions.  I went to the game last friday and they won again.  10-0 on the season.  Thats pretty damn good.  I got offered a ticket to the first home game vs. the Padres, hopefully we will continue the win streak.  Cards lead the series 1-0 right now.  They looked pretty good that first game and finally had a lineup were they can do something.  Seems like all year we had certain injuries, that messed up our lineup.  Hopefully we can step it up.

Cards and more

Posted in Sports at 9:01 am by Administrator

Are the Cards going to have the meltdown of the century?  It sure is looking like it.  But tonight I will be going to the game so they will definately win.  They are somewhere around 9-0 at games i have been to this year.  10-0 for the season sure looks nice.  Another question is will Houston ever lose??  Damn, I hate Houston!!

On another note…I was checking out a friends blog and found some very interesting information.  Are we American’s so out of it that we don’t really care what is going on in our government?  Are we just so sick of politics that we don’t even care?  I’m not sure what the answer is here, but we definately need to do something about it.  How can we be giving one person this much power?  Does anyone see this as being good?  I see all sorts of problems that this could cause (slippery slope).

Another Cardinal Win!

Posted in Sports at 3:59 pm by Administrator

They just cannot lose when i go to their games.  I dont know what it is but do i put off some sort of energy or something??

Anyway went to the game on Friday night and sat in Homers Landing.  We had all you can drink and all you could eat till the middle of the eighth inning or something like that.  Unfortunately Carpenter was pitching and the game was less than two hours long total.  So we had to drink and eat fast.

The weekend flew by.  Worked on the house everyday.  Painted a few rooms and spent a ton of money on furniture and all that other good stuff.

Monday morning when i was driving to the new house I heard on the radio that The Crocodile Hunter had died from a stingray.  At first i didn’t want to believe because i thought he was invincible.  Out of all the animals he ever encountered who would have thought a stingray would have taken his life.  This guy loved what he did and had a passion for conservation.  I think he meant a lot to people out there and will be sadly missed.  He brought a lot of attention to conservation efforts out there.  I only dream of having a job that I love as much as he loved his job.  I think he did a lot of great things in his life.
